UGANDA PRISONS SERVICE BOOSTS AGRICULTURAL CAPACITY WITH ACQUISITION OF NEW MACHINERY:
In a significant move towards achieving national food and animal feeds security, on March 5, 2024, Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) officially commissioned a set of state-of-the-art agricultural machinery. This initiative follows a directive issued by His Excellency, The President, in 2022, instructing the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries to allocate 50,000 acres of land to UPS for the production of food and animal feeds.

PLEA BARGAIN CAMP LAUNCHED AT UG. UPPER PRISON, LUZIRA
In a move towards expeditious and effective administration of justice, His Lordship Alfonso Chigamony Owiny Dollo, the Chief Justice of Uganda, inaugurated the Plea Bargain Camp at UG. Prison Upper, Luzira. The ceremony was marked by collaboration, and the shared commitment to transform Uganda's legal landscape.

In a proactive move towards enhancing food security and transforming the lives of inmates, the Commissioner General of Prisons, Can. Dr. Johnson Omuhunde Rwashote Byabashaija, recently undertook a working tour to the Uganda Prison Farm Odina in Soroti District.

JUBILATION IN UGANDA PRISONS NATIONWIDE AS INMATES EXCEL IN PLE
Inmates across Uganda Prisons are reveling in their academic achievements as the results for the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) were released by the Uganda National Examination Board. 90% of the incarcerated candidates successfully qualified for Ordinary Level Education, marking a momentous triumph for prison education programs.
Uganda Prisons Services has successfully recaptured three (03) prisoners who had escaped from UG.Prison Mityana on December 6th ,2023.Great thanks go to all those who participated in the re-arrest of the culprits.
The recaptured prisoners are:
1. Mfitumukiza Francis,24 years old from Rubange village,Murora sub-county, Kisoro district,was initially charged with murder and aggravated robbery.
2 Nasasira Gideon,37 years old ,from Muko village,Muko sub-county,Rubanda district. His original charges include aggrevated robbery.
