The Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons, James Mwanje commissioned new farm machinery at the Prisons Academy and Training School parade grounds.
This machinery which comprised of 06 tractors, planters, ploughs and water dispensers will help boost the agricultural production in UPS.
A team of officers from the Lesotho Corrections Service are in the country on a 6 day bench mark visit to the Uganda Prisons Services on Prisons Statistics, data collection, analysis, management, archiving and research.
They earlier this week met the Commissioner General of Prisons and thereafter interacted with the Prisons Planning and Policy unit officers.

1. Mr. Guster Kizza, SSP, Officer in Charge UG Prison Jinja Main is appointed Regional Prisons Commander, East Central Region. He takes over from Mr. Joel Kiggundu, SSP, who proceeds on accumulated leave.
Advance Afrika in conjunction with Caritas Switzerland have built a day care centre at Gulu Government prison, this facility was officially openned on 10 October,2017.
The Commissioner General of Prisons yesterday Thurday 24th August, 2017 launched the OKIMANYI Project by the African Prisons Project at Luzira. Okimanyi is a health education project being implemented in the Luzira Prison Complex targeting the youth (children of prison staff, some prison staff and prisoners).
The project is aimed at increasing awareness among children and youth between the ages of 3- 24 years in the Luzira Prisons Community.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija, yesterday morning met with a team of German investors at his office in Prisons Headquarters.
The Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Internal affairs on 10th August, 2017 visited Kitalya Mini Max Prison construction site to check on the progress of the ongoing works.
The team led by Hon. Judith Nabakoba were received and taken on a guided tour by the Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons James Mwanje.

1. Dr. George Muge, CP, Product Promotion & Distribution, Livestock Health & Development is appointed CP/ICT. He remains the Chairman of the Prisons Land Board. The Livestock Health & Development Section is taken over by Mr. Patrick Okonye, ACP, who reports to the CP Farms.
2. Mr. Wilson Francis Magomu, CP/RPC Kampala Extra Region is appointed CP, Industries at Prisons Headquarters. He remains the Regional Prisons Commander Kampala Extra Region until a substantive one is appointed.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Johnson Byabashaija on the 15th July, 2017 attended the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a Prison in Buliisa district.
The area Member of Parliament ,Resident District Commissioner and other district officials as well as area residents witnessed the handed over of documentation pertaining the land to the Commissioner General.
