The Uganda Prisons Service has received support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide comprehensive HIV/AIDS, STI and TB services to prisoners and staff of the Prisons Service. The project that spans the period 1st April, 2015 to 31stMarch, 2020 is being implemented by the Department of Prisons Health Services.

Two prisons yesterday escaped from Masaka Chief Magistrates Court where they had been arraigned on Murder charges.They are Galiwango Musa and Kidawaliime Muhammed.A Reward awaits their recapture.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, General Jeje Odongo last week 19 - 23 February, 2018 toured the prisons’ of Fortportal, Ibuga, Ruimi and Mubuku in western Uganda. The Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State Internal Affairs, Hon. Obiga Kania, Permanent Secretary Internal Affairs, Dr. Ben Mutambi, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Service, Mrs Catherine B. Musingwiire, Members of the Prisons Authority and Prisons Top Management.

TRANSFER OF JUNIOR OFFICERS
At the exigency of the service, the following transfers take immediate effect.
His Excellency the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, today passed out 919 prisons officers at the Prisons Academy and Training School grounds Luzira.These included 706 awardees and wardresses and 213 non commissioned officers on refresher course.
The Deputy Chief Justice of Uganda, His Lordship Alfonse Owiny Dollo presided oner the swearing in of 40 prisons officers as Justices of the Peace at a ceremony held at the High Court of Uganda on the 17/01/2018.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW PROPEROUS 2018
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Can. Dr. Johnson Byabashaija on the 7/12/2017 commissioned the new Mutukula Prison and staff quarters on behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odongo in Kyotera district.
The works were done under the supervision of the Prisons Engineering department.
